DNC Thinks Americans will buy anything in a slick package? by R.Bonn

August 26, 2008 America witnessed a superb performance by Michelle Obama; as well as others, but there is no doubt Michelle Obama can deliver a heck of a speech. It was a completely scripted performance of course. Definitely worthy of an Oscar award. Although her speech writers left out an awful lot of information.

Like the juicy little tidbit about Bernadine Dohrn working for the same law firm that Michelle and Barack Obama were working for, all at the same time. Sidley Austin Law Firm. You all know who Bernardine Dohrn is right? She is the wife of the ever so lovely Mr. William Ayers. She is the supposed ringleader of the Weather Underground. That wonderful group of misdirected youths that planned to BOMB a dance for OUR SOLDIERS at Ft. Dix New Jersey. Now just in case my verbiage was too flowery for you, here it is a bit simpler. THEY TRIED TO MASS MURDER UNITED STATES SOLDIERS.

Soldiers like your husband or your brother or your son or your daughter or your neighbor down the street or that nice young person from church, who's memorial service you attended.

Oh yes, I almost forgot, it was their misdirected youth, thats all. However there are video recordings of Bernadine Dohrn and William Ayers telling Connie Chung, fairly recently, they did not go far enough and they wish they had been more militant and there are more lovely pro-American comments by this lovely couple all over main stream media.

I think the speech writers were correct to leave this part out, but there was so much that got left out. The writers of that verbal river of sludge wrapped in a beautiful bow that the DNC desperately attempted to sell should be honored. They spun everything beautifully.

The goal was to make everyone feel un American if you do not support Barack Obama. If you question Barack or Michelle Obama you are supposed to feel simply horrible about yourself. You are supposed to ask yourself how you could have ever thought ill of her? How could you have ever questioned her? Why she is just like you after all...etc.

America seems to have ingrained the ability to be sold anything, even if it is against their own interest. Take a couple of lines from Michelle's speech, a couple of much overlooked lines.

"to find the strength within ourselves to strive for the world as it should be"

"that we committed ourselves, we committed ourselves to building the world as it should be."

Michelle, I am not about "building the world" we need help here at home. America needs a whole lot more than hope right now. American needs someone that is going to put America 1st for a change INSTEAD of the world. When we had a thriving economy, when we had a strong dollar, we did not ignore the world but America came 1st. I am not sure when the shift actually occurred but there has been a shift. A shift called globalism.

I am a democrat but may I remind you this nation elected and the re-elected G.W.Bush one of the most unaccomplished politicians in the history of this country (when he was elected). Do we seek to one up ourselves in 2008? Inexperience and arrogance got us into the mess we are in now, do want just want to elect more inexperience and arrogance, although these days its called audacity?

You know those late night infomercials "YOU TOO CAN BE A BIZILLIONAIR JUST BUY THIS KIT" Well tonight you were privy to view many hours of a sales infomercial. All hype no substance. Is that all we expect from our party?

Monday night the DNC Convention was all spin with very little truth and it was such a beautifully spun spiders web at that. Who will get caught in the media/convention spiders web of spin?

I invited a friend over for the Opening of the Democratic Convention last night. I nodded off fitfully until Michelle spoke. She managed to hold my attention. I must admit that except for a few "I, I"'s it was very well done.

She is remarkably a better speaker than he is--she looked at the audience, and stratight on at the camera. She wasn't reading from TelePrompter's.

BHO uses two and when they break down he gives Bush a run for his money. A while back I saw MO's resume--it, too, seems to outshine his.

My guest and I recalled the parade of Democratic losers, some of whom distances themselves from Bill Clinton, and lost just because of it, by slim margins.

Interestingly, the only previous president I've heard Obama evoke is Ronald Reagan, whom he admired as "transitional." Of course this was right before the CA Primary--as if he was playing to the conservative elements.

I heard him mention JFK once, in relation to how much he himself reminds some people of him.

But sorely missing is the litany of past Democratic Presidents who left behind a legacy of programs benefitting the American people. I mostly fear that Obama is unaware of them or the programs they championed.

I fear a tranformational shift to the Barackocatic party. After all, he more seriously considered Republican Chuck Hagel for Veep than Hillary Clinton who wasn't even vetted to be pick.

The Democrats-who-lost is a long list, decades long. McGovern, Teddy Kennedy, Carter, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry--curiously they all endorsed Obama, en masse.

I don't like the caricatures Hillary and Bill have been forced into to show their party loyalty and to participate in this convention.

She has to whip her supporters into getting behind the least qualified of the entire lineup of Democratic candidates in 2008. In the end Obama stole enough delegates to come out 123 ahead of her.

Bill Clinton has to speak about national security, upon edict from Obama's camp, rather than his bailiwick, the economy. I will watch, to see how they express themes and topics not of their choosing.

While they valiently and dutifully support the Democratic Party I feel myself slipping away from it.

I fear that much of the pro-Obama sentiment was not just gesture of rejecting racism, but a residual elitist anti-Clinton stance left over from the days of the sex scandal.

Our own cartoonist here in Austin, Ben Sargeant, of the Austin American Statesman, drew a monument to Democratic sexual phillanderers in Mid August. Edward's name was still being chissled, last in line, around the base.

Strangely missing were any of those named Kennedy. Seems like a form of myopia. Could it be elitism? It surely expresses holier than thou thinking. Perhaps getting caught is the qualifier.

Two recent articles came out suggesting that racism will be the key to the Democrat's losing the election in Nov. I heaved a sigh of relief--perhaps if he loses they won't blame it all on Hillary.

I have never been a racist. I was raised to judge on actions not color. However it seems the people who's ancestors suffered from racism now feel free to embrace their own racism. M.O. is a racist plain and simple she has plays the race card more skillfully than any person I have ever seen. The world is full of racists and as it now turns out the so called Democratic party is ok with that, as long as it helps their cause. M.O. speaks of a world as it should be, but what does that mean exactly? Who decides what should or shouldn't be? Once upon a time I had a curse placed upon me to see the world as it is, not as it should be. Its not nice but it is what it is, people are mean, politicians are crooked and things don't always [or even often] turn out like they should. The world as it should be is one where Hillary dominated the primaries and the party was united behind her and in 8 years Obama would get his shot. This is the truth. Unfortunately the world as it is has changed that. Hope and change, hope and change thats all we hear. Sounds good until you look at the world [and Obama]as they are. Joe Biden is NOT change, nor is John Kerry or any of the many, many other seated senators and congressmen currently being supported by Obama. It seems in the real world change doesn't actually mean too much to Mr. Obama or the Democratic party.

    Balcones,
Thank you for your well thought out comments. I agree there is a form of elitism taking place, liberal elitism.

Yes the Clinton's are being forced into party loyalist rolls however Bill Clinton was shown on CNN about 1 hour ago basically saying vote for John McCain. Hillary's speech in Unity N.H. invoked John McCain's 3 p's.

Listen closely and examine the verbiage and I think you will find the Clinton's are bucking the "Barackocratic Party" in every way they can. (Nice and appropriate name by the way)

Sadly, I think in the long run this is going to make things more difficult for African American candidates in the future. This entire sham of a primary and convention will haunt democrats for years to come. This is going to devastate the party as a whole and shame of Dean for helping to orchestrate it all.
Thank you again for your comments, your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    Andrea,

LOL, no I agree it will not be racism, I think it will be a assism. Obama is going to make an ass of every elistist in the party in the general election, if he is nominated.
Thank you for the comment Andrea
